Customer Spotlight Feature
Welcome to the PaperOne™ customer feature, where we interview our customers to find out more about them, their company, their thoughts about the industry, and their partnership with APRIL Group.
For this month’s spotlight, we spoke with Ms. Chombungorn Dararattanaroj, Deputy Manager of C.A.S. Paper Co. Ltd.
Located in Bangkok, Thailand, C.A.S. Paper provides printing and writing paper, and is expanding their scope to the paper packaging segment.
PaperOne™: Thank you for taking the time to speak with us, Ms. Chombungorn. Can you tell us more about C.A.S. Paper and your role in the company?
Ms. Chombungorn: Hello PaperOne™, pleased to be speaking with you! C.A.S. Paper actually started off in 1971 as a manufacturer of quadrats for the letterpress printing system. Today, we are focused on providing quality printing and writing paper to our customers. As a Deputy Manager, I plan and review the overall sales and marketing of office paper. In my last 25 years with the company I have witnessed countless challenges in the paper industry. The printing and writing paper segment has slowed down in the recent years, while the packaging paper segment has grown to be the leader of the paper business.
PaperOne™: That’s interesting! Do you have any plans for C.A.S. Paper to get a slice of the packaging paper pie?
Ms. Chombungorn: E-commerce is on the rise and it is very clear to us with the increased demand for packaging paper. As a business we must be quick to adapt, as we have done so in 1988 when C.A.S. embraced the shift in printing technology from letterpress to digital. We are currently expanding into the packaging paper segment to provide what our customers need and support them to our best ability.
PaperOne™: Adaptability is indeed the key to enterprise longevity! Besides being able to be flexible and adapt quickly, what makes C.A.S. Paper stand out among its many competitors?
Ms. Chombungorn: We firmly believe that good relationships is the key to our success and stand by our company’s motto “Grow better together”, which has guided us for generations when it comes to differentiating ourselves from our competitors. Our products are also priced very competitively and have stock ready to be delivered anytime, and this gives us an edge over the rest as well.
PaperOne™: That sounds like an excellent company value and it has worked for you for so many years. Are there any Corporate Social Responsibility efforts that C.A.S. Paper takes part in?
Ms. Chombungorn: Yes, giving back to the society is also something we believe in. We currently provide scholarships for schools in the Samut Sakhon province, and we have an ongoing project called “You’re the Playground” where we donate playgrounds nationwide for the children of Thailand.
PaperOne™: The children must love you for that! Can you tell us more about your partnership with APRIL Group?
Ms. Chombungorn: APRIL Group has been a very strong partner of ours for more than 15 years. The products we use are PaperOne™ Offset and a range of cut-size papers and we chose APRIL Group not only because the products are PEFC-certified, but also because our customers prefer the variety of paper choices available and the paper quality. There is also an increasing demand for sustainable products and APRIL Group provides exactly what our customers are looking for.
PaperOne™: That’s really heartening to hear! One final question before we end off, where do you see C.A.S. Paper moving toward in the next 5 years or so?
Ms. Chombungorn: Our current plan is to expand into first and secondary paper packing which are box and wrapping paper, which includes corrugated board. Another segment we are looking into are household products such as tissue paper and other sanitary paper products, as their demands have shown to be increasing rapidly.
