This November, we feature Mr Nitinn Karwa, Director of Karwa Commercial Pvt. Ltd.

PaperOne™: Hello, Mr. Nitinn Karwa. It’s great to have you here with us. Let’s begin with an introduction of your company and what you do.

Mr. Nitinn Karwa: Thank you for having me. I am Nitinn Karwa, Director of Karwa Commercial Pvt. Ltd. We are a first-generation paper trading company, established 21 years ago. We strive to provide customers and clients with different options of quality paper products to suit their varying needs.

My role as director involves making key decisions for sourcing and sales and implementing changes where necessary to keep the company up-to-date, especially with how India’s paper industry is currently undergoing a major transformation.

PaperOne™: Sounds like a heavy responsibility, thank you for sharing. What would you say differentiates your company from the rest?

Mr. Nitinn Karwa: Our customers deeply value insights we share from our analysis of prevailing price trends and demand supply equations in the market. The information we share equips them to make timely decisions and when it comes to procurement.

PaperOne™: That’s very value-adding indeed. On that note, does your company practice any form of Corporate Social Responsibility?

Mr. Nitinn Karwa: Yes, we do. We have a separate charitable organisation under our group and our company contributes a fixed percentage of its profits towards the charity.

PaperOne™: What a great initiative, giving back to society and reaching out to those in need! Now moving on, could you also share with us more about your partnership with APRIL Group?

Mr. Nitinn Karwa: Sure, we’ve been partners with APRIL for over two years now, and we continue to support them as they are one of the most reliable paper suppliers to the Indian market - plus, they have a fantastic team that actively supports our marketing efforts.

Some of the PaperOne™ products that we carry alongside our own products include PaperOne™ Offset, Script, Premium Pre-Print, and PrintOne, all of which are high in quality.

PaperOne™: It’s great to hear how rewarding the partnership has been for you thus far. Having been in the industry for many years, how do you think the shift from print to digital impacts the pulp and paper industry?

Mr. Nitinn Karwa: We have been partnering with APRIL Group for 20 years. As technologically-advanced and efficient paper manufacturers, they have been a strong support to us and our business. Christine, from APRIL Group, has been a great help in our operations. From managing stock to offering the latest market insights, her assistance helps us stay competitive in the playing field.

We sell PaperOne™ Offset to our customers as they like how the paper is smooth, very white, and has a high printability. We also use PaperOne™ Offset for our own products as the paper quality is consistent, which provides great runnability in production.

PaperOne™: We’re thrilled to hear that. On a related note, recent years have seen a significant shift from print to digital formats. As a fellow company in the paper market, how do you think this has impacted the pulp and paper industry?

Mr. Nitinn Karwa: I believe that paper is an irreplaceable medium that will continue to grow, evolve, and survive in spite of all odds. We are moving towards a hybrid or Phygital model where both print and digital will work in tandem; companies in the industry that continue to innovate with products and carefully manage their supply and demand will sustain and do well.

PaperOne™: Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the industry. Lastly, where do you see your company moving toward in the next 5-10 years?

Mr. Nitinn Karwa: We hope to consistently grow at an average of 10-20% in trading. We are also open to the prospect of venturing into forward integration when the time is right.
